Heritage Coast & Spectacular Scenery …..

Wood Farm lies on the borders with Dorset, Devon and Somerset.  We are so proud of our beautiful un-spoilt scenery we cannot wait to tell you about the places you can visit.
The area is famous for its rugged coast line littered with fossils from the Jurassic Age.  There are ancient hill forts , historic houses and tranquil villages.  It is a haven for walkers with stunning coastal paths and rolling inland countryside.  Just along the coast lies the timeless seaside town of Lyme Regis with its ancient harbour and a bit further along West Bay with its quirky mix of up market fish restaurants and fast food stalls.

Fossilling & 'The Jurassic Coast'

fossil jurassic coast

England's first Natural World Heritage Site.

Wood Farm is just under a mile from Charmouth Beach, which is pretty much in the middle of the Jurassic coastline.  The 95 miles of coast between Exmouth in Devon and Studland in Dorset tells the story of 185 million years of Earth's history.  The rocks in these cliffs are an almost unbroken record of the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous Periods.

Visit the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre for lots of information on how to look for fossils, guided fossil walks and much more.

Dorset - Perfect Walking Country!

Lots of the staff here at Wood Farm love walking – we’ve written down some of our favourites and printed these out as leaflets at reception.
